Stonington — Police arrested a 16-year-old student at Stonington High School Thursday morning after they say he told another male student he was arguing with that he had a knife.

Police Capt. Jerry Desmond said the boy had the knife in his coat but never took it out. Other students reported the 7:42 a.m. incident to school administrators, who then called police, he said.

The boy was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, threatening and breach of peace. He was referred to juvenile court. His name was not released because of his age.
