    Noteworthy:

-- Fordham faced two Big East teams, losing at Pittsburgh(86-51) and at St. John’s(58-47). Wins came vs. Penn and Princeton.

-- Common foe: Harvard (Fordham lost, 73-64, UConn won, 57-49).

    -- Series history: 22

    nd

meeting, with UConn leading 11-10. Huskies won five straight, including last meeting, 94-75, in 1999.

-- Top reserve: 6-8 forward Travion Leonard (6.6. pts, 3.8 rebs).

-- Gaston is an Atlantic 10 preseason first team pick. He's led the conference in scoring the last three years.

-- Hot: Boatright has made 15-of-21 field goals, including 7-of-11 3-pointers, in the last two games. He’s averaging 18.5 points during that stretch.

-- Cold: Sophomore forward Tyler Olander only four points and two rebounds in 32 minutes last two games.

-- Napier and Gaston both tried out for the Puerto Rican national team last summer.

“He’s a terrific player,” Napier said. “He’s going to do his best to get his points. I think our frontcourt will come in and give him havoc and make it hard for him to score.”

-- As always, rebounding is a focal point for the Huskies who’ve lost the battle of the boards in all but one game this season.

“I want our guys to continue to rebound and continue to focus on it,” coach Kevin Ollie said. “I think it’s going to click. We just keep planting seeds about what have to do this. Hopefully, our harvest comes soon.”

-- Freshman Omar Calhoun is coming off a career-best 22 point performance in a rout of Maryland-EasternShore. He made 8-of-11 field goals.

In the two previous games, he had scored just five points on 1-for-11 shooting.

The next step for Calhoun is to be the consistent scorer that UConn needs him to be.
