East Lyme — Police conducted an investigation after two individuals approached an East Lyme High School student on school grounds Thursday and attempted to obtain the student’s phone number, according to Resident State Trooper Sgt. Wilfred Blanchette III.
The individuals weren’t trying to lure the student into a car, he said. Police could not determine why the individuals were on school grounds but believe the act was “completely random,” Blanchette said.
“With the current climate, I believe we are all hypersensitive to any suspicious activity in or around our schools,” Blanchette said in an email. “We the police remain committed to ensuring the safety of all students and any and all suspicious activity will be investigated.”
