The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner completed an autopsy Monday and ruled the death of Kyle Seidel, 34, of Waterford, a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the neck.
Seidel was found Friday evening lying in the parking lot of Waterford Family Bowl, at 120 Boston Post Road. He was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, where he was pronounced dead.
Seidel was married with three young children and was a crane worker in Essex, according to his uncle, John Seidel of Old Lyme.
In a press release issued by Waterford police on Saturday, the investigation into Seidel's death is being conducted jointly by the Waterford Police Department Investigative Services, the New London County State's Attorney's Office and the state police Eastern District Major Crime Squad.
Anyone who may have observed any activity in the area of Family Bowl between 7:50 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. Friday, or may have witnessed either Seidel or his black Ford Focus traveling on Boston Post Road, is urged to call the Waterford Police Department at (860) 442-9451.
All calls will be kept confidential.
No further information has been released.
