Toddy weather is here

Published December 26. 2012 4:00AM

While National Hot Toddy Day technically is on Jan. 11, 'tis the season for hot, warm, soul-satisfying beverages right now. While cocoa and tea are fine comfort drinks after a day in the cold, how can you resist something called "Hot Toddy"?

According to wikipedia, traditional hot toddies (out of northern England) "involves the mixture of whisky, boiling water or warm milk, and sugar or honey. Additional ingredients such as cloves, a lemon slice or cinnamon (in stick or ground form) may be added."

So, in the spirit of the season, I give you a quick and easy hot toddy recipe.

The NRA has proposed stationing an armed officer in every U.S. school as a way to defend against mass shootings like the one at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. Do you support the NRA's proposal?
Yes, it's a sensible plan. An armed officer would serve as a deterrent and he or she would be able to stop an active gunman before more lives were lost.
No, I'm disappointed the NRA didn't come out with any serious suggestions.
Armed officers would help, but we also need stronger gun control laws.
