Cyndi Lauper spends New Year's Eve at Mohegan Sun

Cue the confetti: Cyndi Lauper will spend her New Year's Eve rocking out in concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena. I promise not to make a "girls just wanna have fun" joke here. What has Lauper been up to 2012? Well, quite a lot. Such as ...

Page turner: Lauper published her memoir titled, obviously, "Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir," this fall. The New York Times called it "boisterous, erratic, sometimes goofy and - very much like its author's music, in all this - not quite as dumb as it may seem."

Broadway baby: Lauper wrote the songs for the new musical "Kinky Boots" that's scheduled to land on Broadway in early March. The show, based on the movie of the same name, boasts a book by Harvey Fierstein.

Acting out: And, yes, Lauper - an Emmy winner for her 1995 guest turn on "Mad About You" - is still acting. Her psychic character, Avalon, returns to "Bones," and Lauper guests as Fran Drescher's childhood friend on "Happily Divorced." (Drescher personally invited Lauper to do the role.)
