New London – A city woman was charged with drunken driving after she crashed her car into a utility pole late Monday, closing a portion of Colman Street for several hours, police said.
Rosa Garcia, 37, of 53 Raymond St., Unit 1, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive right. She was held on $1,000 bond.
Police said Garcia lost control of her vehicle while traveling southbound on Colman Street and struck a utility pole at the intersection with Cedar Grove Avenue. She was not hurt in the crash, but the pole was snapped and utility crews were called to the scene. Colman Street between Broad Street and Jefferson Avenue was closed for several hours.
