Old Saybrook — A student on Wednesday found a .22-caliber bullet on the floor of the auditorium at the Old Saybrook Middle School.
Police Chief Michael Spera said today the incident happened right around dismissal, and the students were already out of the building.
He said the student gave the bullet to a teacher who in turn immediately reported the discovery to the main office. The bullet was given to the school resource officer.
Spera said three state police explosive detection officers along with their canines swept the building and found no other ammunition or any guns in the building. He said the building was deemed safe.
Spera said he would be at the school this morning to address any concerns that parents may have of the situation.
