Norwich – A kitchen fire Friday evening at 247 N. Main St. was contained to that room and was out in about 15 minutes.
No one was reported injured but Norwich Fire Capt. Keith Wusik said one adult and two children were displaced by the blaze. The Red Cross was assisting the residents, he said.
The 5 p.m. fire most likely started by burning food on a stove, Wusik said, but the exact cause and origin remain under investigation. Only the kitchen sustained damage, except for light smoke in other parts of the home, he said.
A 13-member battalion, three engines and a truck from the City of Norwich Fire Department responded, Wusik said.
