Brian and Diane Rhynard of Oakdale announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Melissa, to Gary Kravitz of Colchester. Gary is the son of Edward and Leonardine Kravitz of Plains, Pa.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Cranston High School West in Cranston, R.I., and Rhode Island College, where she studied elementary education. She is currently a fourth grade teacher in the Norwich Public School District in Norwich.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Bishop Hoban High School in Wilkes Barre, Pa., and West Chester University in West Chester, Pa., where he studied communications. He is currently employed at ESPN in Bristol where he works in production.

The couple will exchange vows on Aug. 3, 2013, at St. Matthew Church in Bristol. The ceremony will be followed by a reception at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.
