Superstorm Sandy caused lots of destruction in Guilford, including damage to a portion of the wooden fence on the north side of the Community Center building. The Board of Selectmen (BOS) recently approved the bid to Fence World, Inc., of Madison to construct the remainder of the fence for a total of $10,333. The cost includes the construction and presealing the wood.
Parks and Recreation Director Rick Maynard noted that the cost of the fence replacement would be included in claims for Federal Emergency Management Agency reimbursement.
The BOS unanimously approved the bid and Maynard said work on the fence would commence as soon as weather allows.
