Two people were taken to the hospital Friday after their pickup truck flipped over and hit a fire hydrant and utility pole.
After the 2:25 p.m. crash on Center Groton Road (Route 117), David E. Doucette, 65, and Betty J. Doucette, 63, both of 13 Marla Drive, were taken to the Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. Police said Betty Doucette suffered serious injuries.
Route 117 near the Groton town line was closed in both directions for about an hour, police said, as the Ledyard and Groton Fire Departments and Ledyard police responded to the scene.
Police said the crash remains under investigation but the roadway has reopened.
