Time for a new Pledge of Allegiance

I watched President Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday night and was glad to see the lawmakers with their green Sandy Hook ribbons and the families of gun violence in the audience.

Then later I heard news analysts say that gun control legislation has a snowplow's chance in Bridgeport of passing, even among some members of Obama's party.

That depressed me to the point of needing to rewrite the Pledge of Allegiance which so many people take sooooo seriously.

Here it is:

I pledge non-allegiance
to the crackpots
of the United States of America
and to the repugnance
for which they stand,
one nation
under guns,
indefensible,
with lip service that only can gall
