Norwich – The group Women in the NAACP will sponsor an informational session Feb. 16 for an upcoming three-month program for young women and parents.
The goal of this three-month, six-session program is to provide the foundation for young women of all social, ethnic and socioeconomic classes to be informed, inspired and prepared for today, tomorrow and the future. The program is targeting middle and high school students.
The information will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the United Congregational Church, 87 Broadway.
The first two sessions will be held March 9 and March 23 and will cover self-esteem and self-confidence activities to benefit the participants. Dianne M. Daniels, an experienced image consultant and coach, will facilitate the first two sessions. Each session will include interactive exercises and take-home experiences for the participants.
The April sessions will focus on health (physical, mental and psychological) and will be facilitated by Olympia Gregory, founder of the Olympia Center for Women’s Health. The May sessions will center on education, jobs and financial literacy and banking.
A graduation ceremony for the first group of participants will be incorporated into the 2013 Juneteenth Celebration activities.
For information or to sign up for the program, contact Norwich NAACP Branch President Jacqueline Owens at (860) 886-1686.
