Preston -- School officials have reworked the school calendar for the remainder of this school year to make up days lost to last week's blizzard.

March 28, which had been scheduled for a full-day of professional development for teachers, will be a full day of school, Superintendent John Welch announced today.

The last day of school for students now is a half day on June 20. The original calendar called for school to end June 14, but the town lost four days of school because of Hurricane Sandy and another three days to the blizzard.

Three professional days have been converted into full school days, so teachers will have two professional development days on June 21 and 24 to make up two of those days, Welch said.

Comet, meteor, asteroid, meteorite, shooting star? What's the difference? I'm so confused.

No, events in the sky don't interest me much. I'm much more concerned with what's happening here on the ground.
