In the Indians' ski team's third meet of the season on Feb. 6, the Guilford boys' squad (318.37) defeated Branford (356.08) and Danbury (351.73) before losing to Fairfield (272.57) and Glastonbury (280.00), while the girls' team (320.74) lost to Fairfield (304.62) and Glastonbury (318.11).
Scoring for the boys were John Ivy (44th), Tim Ott (46th), Nick Setaro (60th), Andrew Bottiger (61st), Seth Goeler (71st), and Luke Summerlin (74th). Scoring for the girls' slate were Renee Russo (15th), Lauren Renz (16th), Whitney Lorenze (22nd), and Aimee Loveington (45th), along with Amanda Bertschinger (48th) and Molly Louis (61st). The boys are now 4-10 on the season, while the girls' squad is 2-4 for the campaign.
In a Valentine's Day race that had plenty of surprises, including course issues, a delayed start, and radios that failed, the Guilford boys' squad (317.94) defeated Berlin and Farmington (both disqualified) before it lost to Darien (296.12) and Staples (290.96). Scoring for Guilford were Trevor Beers (24th), Ivy (40th), Andrew DePatie (52nd), Setaro (56th), Goeler (61st), and Ott (64th). The boys' squad is now 6-12.
The girls' team (disqualified) tied Berlin (also disqualified) and lost to Darien (341.86), along with Staples (312.50). Scoring for the Indians were Russo (15th) and Loveington (36th), along with Bertschinger (39th) and Louis (48th). The girls' team is now 2-6-1 on the campaign.
