Hebron Maple Festival A Great Way To Celebrate Spring

Hebron, CT – Excitement is already building for the upcoming Hebron Maple Festival which takes place on March 9 and 10, 2013. This year marks the 23rd annual celebration of this popular event and the diverse activities, displays, demonstrations and epicurean delights just keeps growing. Each year, thousands of visitors from Hebron and the surrounding region converge on the Town for two days of fun, entertainment and educational activities.

To truly experience the Hebron Maple Festival, plan on spending a significant amount of time wandering around to dozens and dozens of locations around Town each offering something unique. Start the day with a pancake breakfast or maple-flavored ham and egg and cheese sandwiches. Or be adventurous with bowls of chili, chili dogs, fried dough or an ice cream eating contest. Tour actual operating sugar houses, view the spectacular quilt exhibits offered by the Hebron Historical Society, observe blacksmiths creating hand-forged items alongside woodworking demonstrations. Two shows have been scheduled this year for the Birds of Prey Exhibition which has delighted children and families as just one of the highlights of the festival. Sample homemade maple cookies, maple cake with ice cream, “sugar-on-snow”, maple and chocolate covered pretzels and so much more.

Many historical buildings in Hebron will host informational tours and offer insight into the lifestyles of the early settlers to the area. The Hebron Volunteer Fire Department will again provide tours of their antique and contemporary fire apparatus. Several of the working farms in Hebron will offer walking tours, friendly cows and even a chance to name the newest born calves. To see the best of everything, stop by the Hebron Lions Club building for a free eye screening session or get sunglasses for the children at Hebron Eye Care.

The list of activities and events goes on and on but one thing is for certain – the Hebron Maple Festival offers something for everyone. Don’t miss this fantastic event on March 9 and 10 running from approximately 10:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.
