Norwich - Norwich Free Academy junior Marcus Outlow, the state's top returning running back, made a verbal commitment to Boston College late Tuesday.

Outlow, who gained nearly 1,400 yards for the Wildcats last season, led NFA to the Class LL state championship game.

Outlow said BC's persistence recruiting him made the decision "feel right."

Outlow said he grew comfortable with the BC coaching staff, who also made a big impact on the entire family.

He even admitted to being a bit miffed at what he perceived to be UConn's late entry into the recruiting process. Outlow said UConn didn't become as active as other schools until late this past season.

"It bothered me a little bit," he said.

Outlow, who played in a boys' basketball game on the road for the Wildcats on Wednesday, returned to campus in time to watch the end of the girls' basketball game. His sister, Cebria, made a key 3-pointer in NFA's 42-40 victory over Ledyard, sending the Wildcats to the ECC championship game.

"I'm so proud of him," Cebria Outlow said. "He paved the way for me."
