Stonington — Police charged a North Stonington man early this morning with repeatedly kicking the side of an SUV on Jan. 28, causing up to an estimated $5,000 of damage.
Jeffrey E. Beliveau, 53, of 368 Grindstone Hill Road, was charged with first-degree criminal mischief after being taken into custody by state police Thursday night and then turned over to police here. He is scheduled to be arraigned today in New London Superior Court.
Police said Beliveau kicked the side of 2010 Toyota Rav4 of a woman he knew. There were dents along the left side of the SUV and he also ripped off the radio antennae, police said. The incident occurred in the parking lot of Stop & Shop on Route 2.
Some are calling for state Democratic Rep. Ernest Hewett to resign after making what some saw as an inappropriate comment to a teenager at a hearing. Do you agree?
