The tops is local chowder-dom

The 10th annual Cabin Fever Festival and Chowder Cook-off last Saturday at Olde Mistick Village raised $13,183 for the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center's Emergency Food Pantry. Twenty-five restaurants from eastern Connecticut and western Rhode Island - with each donating more than 20 gallons of chowder - competed for prizes.

The People's Choice grand prize went to Ocean Blue Catering at the Mystic Aquarium. StoneRidge Retirement Center and the Octagon at the Mystic Marriott took second and third places, respectively. A panel of local celebrity judges determined separate awards. Dog Watch Cafe was named Heartiest Chowder; StoneRidge Retirement Center was honored for Best Use of Regional Ingredients; and the Most Creative Chowder trophy went to Semolina Pasta Shop.
