Westerly - Beginning Monday, The Westerly Hospital will again offer “Strong Women,” a supervised exercise program to help women over 50 maintain muscle mass and preserve bone strength.

Limited space is available in the following classes: Mondays and Wednesdays at either 5 or 7 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m.

Classes meet at 45 Wells St., Suite 101, in the hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Center. Cost for the twice-weekly, six-week sessions is $48. The program will be led by an exercise physiologist from the hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Department.

The program is designed to improve strength, balance, muscle mass, bone density and overall well being with easy-to-follow exercises using simple equipment. It consists of a five-minute warm-up, eight to 12 safe and simple exercises, and a five-minute cool down.
