Curbside pickup won't help taxpayer

In Montville switching to curbside trash pickup (CTP) seems to be the only way being proposed to reduce budgets by scaling back hours at the transfer station. Currently a dump pass is $55 a year and you haul the trash, or the once in a life time offer for CTP will be paid for with a tax increase somewhere between $60 to $180 based on the value of your home.
In Montville 40 percent of residents live in subdivisions, while 60 percent live along rural type roads. Often the distance between house and curb is several hundred feet or more. When placed near heavily traveled roads, vehicles or animals can knock cans over spilling onto the street, or be rifled through by passersby. Trash will be inadvertently strewn about during the transfer with the homeowner responsibile to pick up.
The empty receptacle when near the curb will be subject to vehicles passing by, blowing them into the road, not to mention storms, plows and vandals. Also if a can is damaged or stolen, can the trash receptacle be replaced, and who pays for that? I am sure it will be the taxpayer/homeowner. Insist that this be placed on the in November ballot for voters to decide and vote to defeat the CTP.
