Connecticut ranked No. 5 among states nationally last year in the number of clean-energy and clean-transportation projects planned.

A report Wednesday by Environmental Entrepreneurs cited California, North Carolina, Florida and Illinois as the only states ahead of Connecticut in developing eco-friendly projects that create jobs.

Nationwide, more than 300 projects involving clean energy and clean transportation were announced last year, with 110,000 jobs envisioned. Connecticut's projects were expected to add nearly 5,000 jobs to the state's economy.

"It's now crystal-clear that clean energy and clean transportation are helping our economy recover," Judith Albert, executive director of Environmental Entrepreneurs, said.
