New London - Fried, sunnyside-up, over-easy, poached or hard boiled.

Pick your favorite, because egg dishes will be on the menu in many homes thanks to a donation of 32,400 eggs to the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center.

On Monday, 108 cases of eggs were delivered to the food bank on Broad Street. More than 90 agencies picked up the eggs to distribute to more than 20,000 clients. "We don't usually get eggs from our regular donors,'' said Katherine Sebastian-Dring, working leader at the United Way.

Feed dealer Moark, egg farmers cooperative United Egg Producers, and hunger-relief charity Feeding America donated the eggs.

It is part of nationwide effort to provide fresh eggs to those in need. U.S. egg farmers are donating 9 million fresh eggs this year, bringing the total of fresh eggs donated by farmers since 2008 to 69 million.
