Police identify man injured while driving postal truck

Waterford — Police have identified the 54-year-old man who was seriously injured Wednesday in a one-car accident on Butlertown Road as Richard Cruz of Pawcatuck.

Cruz, who was operating a U.S. Postal Service delivery vehicle, was taken by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital, where he was listed Thursday in stable condition, police said.

Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene at about 1:47 p.m. No passengers were in the vehicle.

Police are asking people who witnessed the accident or the saw the vehicle or driver on Butlertown Road before the accident to call Waterford police at (860) 442-9451.
