An Evening with Elected Officials

First Selectman Joseph S. Mazza, State Senator Ed Meyer, and state representatives Patricia Widlitz and Vincent Candelora were the speakers at the March 13 Guilford Chamber of Commerce Evening with Elected Officials at the Guilford Free Library. The panelists addressed business and economic development issues and expressed a broad range of opinions on Guilford's challenges and outlook. Some highlights: Mazza described the shoreline as overlooked and Connecticut as over-regulated; Meyer described a leaderless legislature improperly focused on property, rather than income, tax; Widlitz pointed to new business opportunities opened by a pro-active governor; and Candelora explained how the bad economy has forced legislators to listen, learn, and respond to constituent concerns.
