Norwich – Norwich area Probate Court Judge Charles Norris and his wife, Lynn Norris have resolved the first of two IRS income tax liens filed against them last summer.
The IRS this week filed a release of a lien totaling $199,754 against the couple for 1040 income taxes in 2010 and 2011. The lien had been filed in city land records on July 2 and was released Monday.
Charles Norris said Thursday that he continues to work with the federal agency to resolve the remaining lien, totaling $536,524 filed last August covering five tax years from 2004 through 2008. Norris said he is disputing the IRS claims.
Norris was elected in November 2010 as probate judge in the newly expanded Norwich area probate district. He had served 11 years on the Norwich Board of Education prior to his probate election. Lynn Norris, a teacher, was elected to the Norwich school board in November 2011.
