Mayor Issues Proclamation Towards EH Youth Football

Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr. stands with members of the East Haven Youth Football 8th-grade team which won the Shoreline title this past fall.

The East Haven Youth Football 8th-graders capped the 2012 perfect season (11-0) with its fourth straight Shoreline title.

Recently, the mayor of East Haven, Joseph Maturo, Jr., issued a proclamation that read: Whereas, the town of East Haven celebrates the Yellowjackets' 8th grade Youth Football team's triumphant win over Madison for the 2012 Shoreline Conference Title; and whereas, their perfect 11-0 season, which included tough wins over a number of formidable teams and made this their fourth straight shoreline title; whereas, entering the playoffs as the No. 1 seed they defeated Guilford 44-22 in the quarterfinal, Cheshire 41-15 in the semifinals, and faced off against Madison for the championship; and whereas, the championship game had an electrified atmosphere with a large, cheering crowd that watched Madison take the first half with a 14-0 lead and the Yellowjackets dominate the second half scoring 36 points for the win. Now, therefore, I, Joseph Maturo, Jr., Mayor of the Town of East Haven extend congratulations, best wishes, and continued success to the Yellowjackets' 8th grade Youth Football team.
