Boston's premiere retro-honky tonk band, Girls, Guns & Glory, returns to the area on Saturday, headlining a terrific double bill with The Hoolios. The show takes place in the Rose Barn at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center.
In recent years, GG&G have ascended the alt-country hierarchy like soaring kestrels - if kestrels wore cowboy hats or could recite titles in the Merle Haggard catalog from memory. Just last week, in fact, Girls Guns & Glory were nominated in three Alternate Root Readers Choice Awards categories: Best Americana Band, Best Americana Album ("Sweet Nothings") and Best Vocalist (Ward Hayden).
As always, The Hoolios do us locals proud in a big way and continue to prove they could easily compete in Nashville or Austin.
