UConn's Blue-White scrimmage slated for noon today

UConn puts the finishing touches on its spring season today by playing its annual Blue-White Spring Game at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.

Parking lots open at 9 a.m., the stadium opens at 10:30 and kickoff is set for noon. The event is free and a special fan festival will be held near Gate E. Fans will also have a chance to purchase season tickets for the 2013 season.

The Huskies, who have been 5-7 in each of coach Paul Pasqualoni's first two seasons, will be part of a new league in 2013 - the American Athletic Conference - and have a pair of new coordinators. T.J. Weist, former wide receivers coach at Cincinnati, will run the offense while Hank Hughes is back at defensive coordinator following the departure of Don Brown to Boston College.

Unlike a year ago, the Huskies complete the spring with a clear-cut No. 1 quarterback in Chandler Whitmer, who had a solid 2012 season. But defense, UConn's strength a year ago, is undergoing a transformation after losing six starters, including four expected to go in next week's NFL Draft: defensive end Trevardo Williams, linebacker Sio Moore and cornerbacks Blidi Wreh-Wilson and Dwayne Gratz.
