    Special town meeting in North Stonington May 7

    North Stonington — A special town meeting to vote on several items, including a recently filed petition regarding Firefly Farms, will be held May 7 at 7 p.m. in the Wheeler High School Gymnatorium.

    The Board of Education will request a $150,000 appropriation to replace two broken Wheeler Middle School boilers, and the Board of Selectmen will ask for a $260,000 appropration for repairs of the Village Green Bridge. The Federal Emergency Management Agency will reimburse 75 percent of this second expense.

    Also up for discussion and a vote will be amending the list of permitted uses of the Hewitt Farm property to include community gardening, and a petition filed by resident Van Brown that asks the town to accept a $100,000 settlement offer in exchange for the town's release of its claim on his Firefly Farms, located on the former Norwich YMCA property at 96 Button Road.
