On May 2, 2013 at about 10:27 a.m., the East Haven Police Department received a report of suspicious activity in the area of Massachusetts Avenue. The caller advised that a male in his 20’s was at a nearby residence peering into windows. At approximately the same time, a call for a burglar alarm was received by dispatch in the same area.
Officers responded to the area and located a bicycle apparently used by the suspect and a laptop and Kindle which were stolen, and discarded by the suspect. It was determined that a burglary had been completed and a second burglary was attempted. A witness advised responding officers that the suspect was seen running toward McDermott Chevrolet on Main Street.
Officers set up a perimeter in the area and requested the assistance of a K-9 unit. West Haven Police Department sent a K-9 team (Officer Bloom and his K-9 partner "Hank") to assist. A short time after starting the K-9 track, officers spotted the suspect running through the parking lot of McDermott Chevrolet. The suspect, identified as Sean Anthony Williams (DOB 3-28-1992) was taken into custody without incident. Williams is charged with Burglary 3rd, Larceny 5th, Criminal Attempt at Burglary 3rd, and Criminal Mischief 3rd. At the time of this release, Williams was being held on a $15,000.00 bond.
