Three Huskies invited to USA U19 women's basketball trials
UConn freshmen Moriah Jefferson, Breanna Stewart and Morgan Tuck have accepted invitations to the 2013 USA Basketball U19 World Championship team trials.
The trials will be held May 16-19 in Colorado Springs, and 12 players will be selected from a pool of 34 to participate in the U19 World Championship July 18-28 in Lithuania. The U.S. U19 team has won four straight gold medals.
Stewart, who helped lead UConn to its eighth national title last month, was MVP of the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 championship and was named 2011 USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year. Jefferson and Tuck were also members of the 2012 USA FIBA U18 National Team.
