    Special weekend for Evans, UConn

It already is a memorable weekend for the UConn basketball family.

R.J. Evans of Salem is graduating today after completing a masters degree in educational psychology. It is a significant accomplishment for the former Norwich Free Academy standout. He successfully juggled his basketball and academic responsibilities.

On the recruiting front, UConn received a commitment from Class of 2014 talent Daniel Hamilton Friday night.

Consider it an impressive recruiting victory for the Huskies.

Hamilton, a 6-foot-7 swingman out of St. John Bosco in Bellflower, Ca., averaged about 14.5 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. He made an official visit to Storrs last weekend.

He comes from a family of basketball players. UConn recruited his older brother, Jordan, who chose Texas and now plays for the Denver Nuggets. Isaac Hamilton will play at Texas-El Paso and Gary competed for Miami.

After committing on Friday, Hamilton tweeted: "Ya boy just committed to Connecticut #huskyguard can't wait."

Coach Kevin Ollie also recently added North Carolina State transfer Rodney Purvis, who will be eligible to play with Hamilton in 2014.
