New London is blessed again to have Elaine Maynard Adams running for the New London Board of Education. I had the pleasure of being part of Elaine’s pathway from childhood to adulthood. She has always been a true “Whaler,” graduating from New London High School, a parent of a child who attended the public school system, and a longtime resident.

Her accomplishments are too many to fully list. However, here is one that stands out. She served on the Board of Education from 1991-1999 and from 2007-2009.

During her first term on the board, she served with my husband, Dr. Rene J. Racette, then superintendent. He always told me, “Elaine is one of the brightest and hardworking board members I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She is no-nonsense, straight forward and always has the best interest of the students. I wish I could clone her.”

With some of the current issues facing the district, we need someone with the experience, knowledge and most of all courage to make nonpartisan decisions for our kids.

I am proud to support Elaine Maynard Adams. If you want assurance that your son/daughter is safe and getting a great education, you’ll vote for her Nov. 5.
