Bicyclist struck by SUV in Ledyard listed in good condition

Ledyard — A 55-year-old bicyclist from Lisbon was injured Friday morning when he collided with an SUV in Ledyard, police said.

At 8:15 a.m., Thomas H. Leise of Lisbon was riding a bicycle north in the travel lane of Route 12 when he was involved in a collision with a 2008 Chevy Tahoe driven by Kenneth Carrion, 34, of Groton. Police said Carrion was turning into the entrance to the Dunkin' Donuts at the time of the accident.

Leise was taken to The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich for treatment of serious arm and facial injuries. He was listed in good condition late Friday.

Ledyard police responded to the accident with the Gales Ferry Fire Department, Ledyard Fire Department, Submarine Base Ambulance and Lawrence + Memorial Hospital paramedics.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. Witnesses to the crash are asked to contact Ledyard police Sgt. Scott Petersen at (860) 464-6400.
