With less rain than expected in earlier forecasts, the National Weather Service in Upton, N.Y. has canceled the flood watch for New London County and all of southern Connecticut.

Dan Hofmann, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service, said there were periods of dry weather this afternoon that reduced the overall amount of rainfall. While more showers are expected, including the possibility of downpours overnight, Hofmann said things are expected to clear by mid-afternoon tomorrow.
