East Lyme's Ryan earns All-America honors in lacrosse

East Lyme High School's Kiki Ryan has earned All-America honors by US Lacrosse, one of a number of honors local girls' lacrosse players received recently.

Ryan, a senior attack, was an honorable mention pick on the team. She scored 90 goals and had 52 assists in helping lead the Vikings to the Eastern Connecticut Conference tournament title and a spot in the Class M state semifinals.

Ryan was also named to the Academic All-America team as well as the Connecticut High School Coaches Association Class M all-state team.

Other local players earning Academic All-America honors were East Lyme's Lindsay Schneider and Caroline Gonsalves, Ledyard's Michaela Holland and five players from Fitch - Krystal Czapek, Avery Fiftal, Sara Goblin, Jackie Kokomoor and Daria McKenna.

Schneider was also named Connecticut recipient of the Jackie Pitts Award by US Lacrosse, which is presented annually to a senior who "honors the game, is invested in the development in her community, is an exceptional player, an exemplary team member on and off the field, an outstanding student and valued role model in her school."

Following is a list of local players making the CHSCA all-state teams:

Class M - Ryan, Schneider and East Lyme's Jane Bartlett (first team); East Lyme's Paige Schneider, Fitch's Chloe Taylor and Ledyard's Holland (second team).

Class S - Stonington's Libby Morrison, St. Bernard's Maria Theiler and Waterford's McKenzie Potter (first team); Wheeler's Jessica Muller and Old Lyme's Meredith Britton, Allie Buckley and Sloane Sweitzer (second team).

In addition, Lindsay Schneider, Holland, Fitch's Caity Noel and Old Lyme's Brooke Tinnerello were named to the CHSCA Academic All-State team, East Lyme's Phil Schneider was named CHSCA Coach of the Year in Class M and six of his players - Ryan, Lindsay and Paige Schneider, Jane and Jill Bartlett and Caroline Regan, played in the CHSCA Senior All-Star Game on Wednesday at Fairfield Warde.
