Mike Thibault tied former Houston Comets coach Van Chancellor for the most coaching wins in WNBA history as the Washington Mystics posted their largest margin of victory in nearly five years Sunday in a 84-61 win over the Tulsa Shock.
Thibault and Chancellor each have 211 wins. Thibault coached the Connecticut Sun the previous 10 seasons, and his new team would give him the record outright if it wins at home Saturday against the Seattle Storm.
Ivory Latta scored 15 points, Monique Currie 13, Crystal Langhorne 11 and Matee Ajavon 10 for Washington, which snapped a five-game losing streak with its second win over Tulsa this year.
The Mystics (5-6) held the Shock (3-10) to nine points in the third quarter, a season low for Washington's defense and Tulsa's offense. It was Washington's first win by more than 20 points since defeating Seattle 89-57 on July 20, 2008.
Roneeka Hodges scored 16 points to lead Tulsa, which has lost its first three games in a four-game road trip after winning two straight at home.
