New London police investigate early morning shooting

New London — A New London man was shot in the foot in the area of Jay Street early this morning.

Police said at 12:25 a.m. they received a call from a resident on Jay

Street reporting a possible shooting. The caller reported hearing several shots fired and then seeing someone being carried down the street.

Police located Jose Rosado, 19, of New London, with an apparent gunshot wound to his foot. He was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The suspect, described only as a black male wearing a white tank top, was reported to be in the company of a large crowd walking across the street from where the victim was shot.

Police said they recovered several .40 caliber shell casings at the scene.  The crime scene was closed for several hours as police investigated.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (860) 447-1481. All calls will be kept confidential.
