Mashantucket Pequot cultural tradition

A group of young dancers from the Mashantucket Child Development Center take the floor to open the Mashantucket Pequot Museum Educational Powwow Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Due to morning rain the event, which is usually staged in a tent outside the museum, was moved inside the museum's Gathering Space. Mashantucket Pequot member Wayne Reels provided running commentary for visitors as two drum groups provided the rhythm and dancers demonstrated a variety of native styles. The Powwow continues Thursday with grand entries at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Mashantucket - A group of young dancers from the Mashantucket Child Development Center took the floor to open the Mashantucket Pequot Museum Educational Powwow Wednesday.
