Crew and cadets from the Coast Guard barque Eagle partnered with Keep Bermuda Beautiful and Habitat for Humanity Bermuda to help with various service projects during a port call in Bermuda, Saturday, June 29 to Tuesday, July 2.

More than 50 crew members cleaned up neighborhoods and repaired and refurbished a building to be used as a multifunctional facility in Hamilton.

"Pursuing service projects in the communities we visit are a vital part of the training mission," said Lt. Kristopher R. Ensley, the operations officer. "While our primary mission is to train future Coast Guard leaders, being an ambassador of goodwill to the places we visit helps to enhance the leadership experience."

"A critical part of being an officer is serving and helping others," said Cadet First Class Sam W. Kulp. "It was a great experience helping refurbish a community center in Hamilton, which will be beneficial to Bermuda for many years to come."

Eagle left New London May 11. The summer deployment to train cadets spans 11 weeks and includes nine port calls in five countries.
