State Sen. Cathy Osten to run for first selectman one more time
Sprague – Democratic state senator and First Selectwoman Cathy Osten announced today she will seek her fourth and final term as the town's top elected official.
Osten, who was elected last November as the 19th District state senator, succeeding former Sen. Edith Prague, said the town is in the midst of several large projects she hopes to see completed during the next two years. She said this would be her final time running for first selectwoman.
Osten said five town structures are undergoing renovations, including a $2 million upgrade to Shetucket Village housing complex, and five roads are under reconstruction. The town's sewage pumping station also is undergoing a $1.4 million upgrade.
"All this is being done at the same time," said Osten, who was endorsed by the Democratic Town Committee. "I want to be able to wrap them up."
The 19th state Senate district covers Norwich, Montville, Ledyard, Sprague, Lisbon, Franklin, Lebanon, Columbia, Hebron and Marlborough.
