Flood insurance changes are topic of state public forums

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection will host three meetings next month to discuss flood insurance and coastal map changes with the public.

The meetings will allow residents to view new updated coastal flood insurance rate maps, understand the changes that will impact flood insurance rates, and learn about financial steps they may need to take to protect their investment in their properties. Staff from FEMA and DEEP will give a short presentation and answer questions.

All three meetings will take place form 5 to 8 p.m. The first will be Aug. 8 at DEEP Marine Headquarters, 333 Ferry Road, Old Lyme. Others meetings will be: Aug. 20 at Ludlowe High School, 785 Unquowa Road, Fairfield; and Aug. 27 at the Branford Fire Department, 45 N. Main St., Branford.
