Restoring the 'Whaling Wall' in New London

Dave Bishop of the Whaling City Restoration Committee touches up the "Whaling Wall" mural on Eugene O'Neill Drive Tuesday, July 30, 2013. The mural, painted by environmental artist Wyland in 1993 was on the verge of being whitewashed-over in 2006 when the committee was formed to save it. Bishop touches-up areas where the paint has flaked-off each year. He says it's getting close to time to do a total restoration of the mural as he can see countless cracks in the paint where water is getting under the surface.
