Monsanto fund makes donations to nature center, aquarium

Mystic — The Monsanto Fund has given a $10,000 donation to the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center towards its preservation of the Coogan Farm off Route 27 and $7,500 to the Sea Research Foundation to support its "Where the City Meets the Sea: the Long Island Sound Curricula Outreach Program."

Sea Research, the parent organization of Mystic Aquarium, will use the grant to allow students to participate in classroom visits and field research studies, interact with live animals, and attend conservation and career-themed presentations and trips, according to a press release from Monsanto. Monsanto also awarded a grant to Sea Research in 2011.

The Monsanto Fund is the the philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company and supports communities where farmers and Monsanto Company employees live and work. Monsanto’s seed research facility is located at the end of Maritime Drive.
