Groton – A local woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly breaking into a home here, according to town police.
Jeannie M. Singleton, 30, of 49 Ledyard Avenue, #1, was charged with home invasion, third-degree assault, first-degree criminal trespass, sixth-degree larceny, third-degree robbery and interfering with an emergency call.
Groton Town Police Lt. John Varone said police responded to an address in town for a report of a possible burglary at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday. He said the woman targeted the man’s home.
“She knew him and she knew he would have what she wanted,” Varone said. No weapon was involved and the victim was not injured in a way that required medical attention, he said.
Varone said the man called police immediately after the break-in and police found the woman shortly after in a car with another person who did not know what had occurred. He declined to say what items were taken from the home.
