Chelsea Groton Foundation has pledged $100,000 to support Lawrence + Memorial Hospital's new cancer center set to open Sept. 30 in Waterford in affiliation with Dana-Farber Community Cancer Care.
The $34.5 million, 48,000-square-foot Cancer Center will house a broad array of outpatient care services, including regular oncology appointments, radiation, chemotherapy, blood transfusions and more. Patients will also benefit from Dana-Farber specialists' second opinions, opportunities to participate in clinical trials, genetic counseling, social workers' support, nutritional guidance and other services.
"Knowing L+M and Dana-Farber will improve the quality of life for cancer patients made our decision to give easy," said Chelsea Groton Bank President and CEO Michael Rauh. He and foundation and bank board member Mary Ellen Jukoski serve on L+M's board of directors.
