Willimantic – Police are investigating the cause of death of a 37-year-old man whose body was discovered Wednesday in the Willimantic River.
At 4 p.m. Willimantic police said they received a 911 call for a report of a “body in the river.” Police found the white male deceased, face down in the river.
Police said a preliminary investigation by police detectives indicates the death was accidental, though the investigation continues and an autopsy is planned at the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in order to determine the cause and manner of death.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification to the family.
