Press release from the Clinton Police Department

Working off of a tip, Clinton Police have seized two truckloads of marijuana plants and home-growing equipment from a Clinton residence.

The Clinton Police Department received information earlier today from the Connecticut Department of Children & Family Services (DCF) of indoor marijuana grow at 7 Captains Walk in Clinton. It was reported that a child was residing in the house where marijuana was being grown.

A DCF worker along with Detective Pellegrini responded to the residence and spoke with the home owner/parent of the child. The homeowner cooperated with police and allowed a search of the residence. The child was not home at the time. The homeowner indicated the basement area was rented out to a third person; that person was not home.

Upon searching the residence, an indoor marijuana grow room was discovered in the basement. This room included venting, fans, grow lights, and numerous plants. These plants ranged from small seedlings to five foot tall specimens. More plants were located outside in the yard. Approximately 80 to 100 plants were located, most of them inside the basement. These plants and all of the equipment were seized and transported to the Clinton Police Station with the assistance of the Clinton Department of Public Works. Two trucks were needed.

No arrests were made and the case remains under investigation.
